Prerequisites
Because the QuickBooks Gateway runs on your local machine, you must also do the following:- Set up the Connect Gateway on the same network as your QuickBooks machine. This allows Connect AI to reach the local machine. The Connect Gateway acts as a secure tunnel between your on-premises network and Connect AI. See Connect Gateway for more information.
- Install and configure the CData QuickBooks Gateway on the machine that hosts QuickBooks Desktop as follows:

Download and install the CData QuickBooks Gateway on the machine where QuickBooks Desktop is installed.

Launch QuickBooks Desktop and ensure that the company file you want to access is open.

Start the QuickBooks Gateway. By default, it listens at http://localhost:8166.

Note the URL, User, and Password configured in the QuickBooks Gateway. You will enter these in the setup steps below.
Setup Guide
Follow these steps to connect QuickBooks to your Connect AI account:1
Open the Sources page of the Connect AI navigation menu.

Click + Add Connection in the upper-right corner.

Type QuickBooks into the search field, then click the data source name.

On the Basic Settings tab of the new connection, enter a connection name or keep the default name.

Select a Connection Type of Connect Gateway.

Select a Location Name of the gateway you created in the prerequisites.

Enter the URL where the QuickBooks Gateway is running (for example, http://localhost:8166). This is the endpoint the connector uses to communicate with QuickBooks Desktop. The URL you enter is resolved through the Connect Gateway tunnel.

Enter the User and Password required to authenticate the connection to the QuickBooks Gateway.

(Optional) Enter the Application Name of the application connecting to QuickBooks. The default value is CData QuickBooks Connector.

At the top of the Connect AI Add Connection page, click Save & Test.
- If the connection test succeeds, a Connection successfully saved message appears, indicating that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated. View the data model of your successful connection in the right pane of the Edit Connection page, in the Data Model tab.
- If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Connect AI displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.
- Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.
