## Prerequisites (OAuth JWT Authentication Only)

Before you can establish a connection with Box with OAuth JWT authentication, you must create a custom OAuth application in the Box Developer Console.

    Log in to the [Box Developer Console](https://app.box.com/developers/console).

    Click **Create New App**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Specify basic application information, as appropriate.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    In **OAuth 2.0 Redirect URI**, add *[https://oauth.cdata.com/oauth/](https://oauth.cdata.com/oauth/)* as a redirect URI.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click **Create App**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    After you have an administrator authorize the app, select the scope of user permissions your custom OAuth app can request.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    After your application is created and registered, click **Configuration** from the main menu to access your settings. Note the **Client Id** and **Client Secret**. You will need these values to configure the connection in Connect AI.

## Setup Guide

Follow these steps to connect Box to your Connect AI account:

    Open the **Sources** page of the Connect AI navigation menu.

    Click **+ Add Connection** in the upper-right corner.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Type *Box* into the search field, then click the data source name.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    On the **Basic Settings** tab of the new connection, enter a connection name or keep the default name.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Select an **Auth Scheme** and follow the relevant instructions below.
  </Step>

## Authentication Methods

        Click **Sign in** to connect securely through OAuth. This action opens the Box sign-in page in a new tab.

        Log in to your Box account and provide the requested permissions (if applicable).

        At the top of the Connect AI **Add {title_0} Connection** page, click **Save & Test**.

        * If the connection test succeeds, a **Connection successfully saved** message appears, indicating that your connection has been created. The **Status** on the **Edit Connection** page also changes to **Authenticated**. View the data model of your successful connection in the right pane of the **Edit Connection** page, in the **Data Model** tab.
        * If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Connect AI displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the **Sign in** button. Correct the errors and try again.
        * Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a **Status** of **Not Authenticated**. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.

        Enter the following information:

        * **OAuth Client Id**—the client Id assigned to your custom OAuth application (obtained in the prerequisites).
        * **OAuth Client Secret**—the client secret assigned to your custom OAuth application (obtained in the prerequisites). This value is used to authenticate the application to the OAuth authorization server.
        * **OAuth JWT Subject Type**—the subject type for the JWT authentication. Select **enterprise** to authenticate as the enterprise (service account) or **user** to authenticate as a specific user. The default value is **enterprise**.
        * **OAuth JWT Public Key Id**—the Id of the public key registered with your Box app for JWT authentication.

        At the top of the Connect AI **Add {title_1} Connection** page, click **Save & Test**.

        * If the connection test succeeds, a **Connection successfully saved** message appears, indicating that your connection has been created. The **Status** on the **Edit Connection** page also changes to **Authenticated**.         * **Subject Type**—The subject type for the client credentials authentication. Select **enterprise** to authenticate as the enterprise or **user** to authenticate as a specific user. The default value is **enterprise**.
